Do Not Be Afraid

Deut. 18:22

Do you ever read the headlines of those magazines that you see while going through the checkout of your grocery? Are you guilty of being a little frightened by some of their predictions? Some of those predictions actually come true. Some, but not all.

When the people of Israel were preparing to enter the Promised Land of Canaan, they were warned about predictions made by false prophets. Moses told the people to beware of prophets who claimed to speak for God, but whose predictions would not come true. Moses said that if any of their words did not come to pass they were not from God and in Deut. 18:22 Moses said, "thou shalt not be afraid of him."

These words of Moses should remind us that we do not need to be afraid because of the predictions of so called psychics or seers, because they are not from God and we cannot depend on their words.

But what we can depend on are the promises of God's word in the Bible. The Bible promises us that no matter what happens in the future, God will always control the universe and will take care of his people.

If you are a member of the family of God by faith in Jesus Christ, you do not need to fear any man's predictions.
