In Exodus chapter 16, the Bible continues the story of the Hebrew people as they traveled from Egypt to the Promised Land. God supplied these people with food called manna that fell from the sky. Verse 15 says “this is the bread which the Lord hath given you.” Through all the years of the wilderness traveling, God always supplied the need.
As we travel through life we may worry about having the things we need, but we should remember that in Paul’s writing the Bible says “My God shall supply all your needs” (Phil. 4:19). David also said in Psalms that “I have not seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread” (Psa. 37:25). In the model of prayer Jesus also said to ask God to supply our daily bread.
The story of the manna from heaven should encourage us if we face difficult financial situations, for God will take care of his children. He may supply our needs by providing employment, or by teaching us to be better managers of our income. But we, like the Hebrews, can depend on God to be faithful to all of his promises.
