Editor, The Courier:

Our 6th Annual Bicycle Safety Rodeo, sponsored by the Vinton County Health Department, Vinton County Help Me Grow and Vinton County WIC, was held on Saturday, May 19 to promote Bike Safety Awareness Week and was a huge success. New this year was a bicycle obstacle course created by Deputy Heaton of the McArthur Police Department.

Each child who attended received a bike helmet and safety information. Because of the generous local donations from businesses, groups, political figures and individuals, we were able to put smiles on the faces of 69 local children. This could not have been possible without the help of donations from Walmart of Chillicothe, R&C Quickstop, McArthur McDonalds, Dr. Susan Crapes, Dr. Becky Huston, Paula Grunkemeyer, Mullins Pizza, Jeff and Nicki Martin of the Bronzer and Weeping Willow, Mama Renie’s Pizza, Hammond Insurance, Steve Hammond, Jesse Barrows, McClure’s Restaurant, Fraternal Order of Eagles #2279, McArthur Tire, Todd Graham, Main Express, VFW McArthur #5299, Sarah Prater, Josie and Josh Ray, Adam and Blake Hammond, A to Z Sanitation, Early Intervention Services of Vinton County, Craig Case of DMC Excavating, Mason’s Autobody, Brent Mason, Glenn Thompson, Judge N. Robert Grillo, Auditor Cindy Owings-Waugh, Gas N Stuff, OSU Extension Office, Vinton County Democratic Party, Davis Veterinary Services of McArthur, Treasurer Vicky Maxwell, Village of McArthur, Hopewell Health, Nichols Pizza and Carryout, HRC Insurance Services, Vinton County Local School District, Vinton County Garage, Deputy Heaton, Aaron & Village Police Chief, Matt Kight, McArthur Fire Department Curt, Alex & Josh, South Central Ohio Jobs and Family Services, Herbert Wescoat Memorial Library, Shepherd’s House, Vinton County Courier, VCHD Public Health and VCHD Home Health.

Look for details next year for an even bigger and better bike safety rodeo.

We appreciate the support and thank you Vinton County!
