Congrats to Brenda Dickens, of Jackson, whose name was drawn for the Sept. 21 Cash Explosion Show!

Happy retirement to Carolyn down at Kali’s Pizza, who retired on Friday.

Get-well wishes to Stacia Allison, who is fighting cancer.

A wonderful man and friend to all, Floyd Rose, passed away. Goodbye, ole Scout. We sure are gonna miss your smiling face!

Another woman who has done much for Jackson, Loretta Jones, passed away. Lots of kids would not have had a good Christmas if not for her tireless efforts with Secret Santa. Even when she was ill, Secret Santa was her first thought.

I read on Facebook that Jerry Durkin, JHS Class of 1953 passed away.

I went by the cemetery on Gay Street and saw the flags were tattered. I sent Ron Speakman a message and new flags were flying in the breeze. Ron does a lot for our veterans, as does Arnold Tripp.

There is work going on outside Walmart and outside Michael’s Ice Cream.

Workers fixed the drainage problem at Stanley Arthur/Manpower Park. Thanks to Becky McCathern and her workers for getting the grant to get this done.

I had a delicious sweet from Babycakes in Oak Hill.

Thoughts to ponder — live your life so that the preacher doesn’t have to lie about you at your funeral.

Another thought — it’s not about how many times you fall, it’s about how many times you get back up. This doesn’t apply if you are having a field sobriety test!

Another thought — I am on my second guardian angel; the first one quit and is now in therapy!
