Three students from Vinton County High School represented Vinton County as members of the 2017 All Ohio State Fair Youth Choir; these students were also the recipients of the 2017 Nena Maxine Kessel Wells Music Scholarship and each student received $250. These recipients include: Mason Huston, the son of Misty Napier and Max Huston; Tessa Hoy, the daughter of Bobbi and Dustin Hoy; and Tyler Harber, the son of Kelly Eberts.

The scholarship is named in honor of Nena Maxine Kessel Wells, who taught in Vinton County and served on the school board. Wells' daughter, Constance Wells White, presented the students with Scholarship Certificates at the Ohio State Fair during the alumni concert. This year marks 50 years that students from Vinton County have lent their voices to the choir.
