Can just anyone approach God or can just a few people really get close to him?
When God was preparing the nation of Israel to receive the laws of God, he called the chief priests, 70 elders of Israel and most to come up on the mountain.
But Exodus 24:2 says, “Moses alone shall come near the Lord.”
All others had to worship God from a distance. Even the law was given only the high priest could approach God in the tabernacle and later in the temple, for a curtain separated men from God. But when Jesus died on the cross, the Bible says the curtain that separated men and God in the temple was ripped apart so that everyone could approach God.
The writer of the Book of Hebrews says Jesus is now our high priest and therefore all believers can come boldly into the presence of God.
If you want to get close to God, you can by first receiving his son Jesus Christ into your life.
