Multiple assemblies and other ceremonies in recognition of Veterans Day have been announced.
Various schools in the Vinton County Local School District will host their own Veterans Day programs. South Elementary, West Elementary, Vinton County Middle School and Vinton County High School will host programs on Nov. 8. VCHS and South will host their programs at 9 a.m. West will host its program at 1 p.m., and VCMS will host its program at 2:45 p.m. On Nov. 12, Central Elementary will host its Veterans Day program, commencing at 9:30 a.m.
The annual Veterans Day program will be held Nov. 11 in front of the Vinton County courthouse. The VFW Post Honor Guard will assemble at 10:30 a.m. Abbey Owings will sing the National Anthem during the flag raising ceremony. Judge Bob Grillo will serve as the event’s emcee and will read the casualty list. The Rev. Danny Minton will also speak at the event.
Post #5299 will conduct a 21-gun salute at 11 a.m. The program will conclude with the ringing of the Centennial bell in honor of local veterans. Food will be served at the VFW post afterward.
The American Legion Joseph A. Freeman Post #476 will also host a Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 11. Those who are participating should be at the old Legion building at 10:30 a.m. Those who want to watch should be at the town square at 11 a.m.
Jackson High School (JHS) will be holding an assembly to honor Veterans on Monday, November 11, at 9 a.m.
Jackson High School Principal Thad Haines would to invite any veterans who are JHS graduates or who have family connections to Jackson High School.
Wellston High School will be holding a veteran’s assembly on Monday, November 11, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
Westview Elementary in Jackson will host a Veteran’s Day Program on Monday, November 11, at 10 a.m. in the gymnasium. All are welcome to attend.
Northview Elementary in Jackson will host a Veteran’s Day Program on Monday, November 11, at 8:45 a.m. There will be donuts and coffee to all of their guests in the library from 8:15-8:45 a.m.
Jackson Middle School will host a Veteran’s Day Program will be Monday, November 11, starting at 1:30 p.m. in the JMS Auditorium. Veterans are asked to be at the school library between 1-1:15 p.m.
Southview Elementary in Jackson will host a Veteran’s Day assembly on Monday, November 11, at 1 p.m.
