The lost and fallen soldiers that have hailed from Vinton County were honored during the Memorial Day program, the first to be held in the county since the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the ceremony last year. A list of those lost and a 21-gun salute took place as part of the program as well as a procession from the courthouse to Elk Cemetery. VCHS Marching Band, local Girls and Boy Scouts, and the VFW Post 5299 took part in the procession.
