McARTHUR — The Vinton Metropolitan Housing Authority will be limiting person-to-person contact as much as possible. The doors of the housing Authority will be closed to the public until further notice. VMHA staff will be on site during regular business hours, Monday through Thursday.
Staff may be reached via the phone at 740-596-5963, via email at email@example.com and by mail at VMHA, P.O. Box 487, McArthur, Ohio 45651. We will also be using a drop box located next to the front door.
Participants should still report any changes and annual and interim certifications will still be completed. It is especially important for any participant that has lost his or her job or has had hours reduced to report these changes to the VMHA. Documentation of a change is still required and paperwork will still need to be signed and a determination of assistance is completed.
Most housing inspections will still be completed and landlords will still be required to make any emergency repairs to their rental units. Examples of emergency repairs include the absence of heat, security issues (broken windows, doors, locks, etc.), major plumbing issues, gas leaks, electrical issues that could cause shock or fire, any condition that could possibly result in injury if not corrected.
Elderly people or people with underlying health conditions can ask for a postponement and the inspection will be moved forward as much as allowed by HUD regulations. Inspections that are conducted by the inspector will limit person-to-person contact as much as possible. For example, a family may wish to remain in one room and close the door while the inspection is being conducted.
The VMHA wants to encourage all its participants and landlords to be patient with the VMHA and each other during these times of change and uncertainty, and the VMHA will do its best to keep everyone informed of changes as they occur. We recommend that you join our Facebook page, “Vinton County Metropolitan Housing Authority.”
