COALTON — A sign recently placed near Broadway Street in Coalton has confirmed the circulating rumors that the Village of Coalton is indeed getting a Dollar General.
Coalton Mayor Kim Milliken told The Courier that she had initially reached out to Dollar General in 2012, and again in 2016, but it wasn’t until last year that she was able to assist the company in finding a suitable piece of property.
According to Dollar General spokesperson Angela Petkovic, Dollar General is currently under construction in Coalton and the brand new store will be located at 108 Broadway St.
“At this time, a grand opening is slated for late summer 2019, but understand that construction progress may alter this date,” Petkovic stated.
The store will employ about six to 10 employees. Job applications are available on the company’s website.
Petkovic stated the company “looks for places where (Dollar General) can offer customers an easy and convenient shopping choice.”
Dollar General operates existing stores in Wellston, Jackson, Oak Hill, Hamden and elsewhere.
