Auctioneer Patrick Ball is shown auctioning off one of many Christmas trees at the 30th Annual American Cancer Society (ACS) Festival of Trees.

JACKSON — A large crowd gathered at the Jackson Memorial Building in late November to support a local cause and enjoy some bidding wars over Christmas trees.

This year, the American Cancer Society (ACS) Festival of Trees celebrated 30 years at its event held on Nov. 21.

The event is a fundraiser that benefits the ACS and is sponsored by the ACS Jackson County Unit.

Patrick Ball once again served as the auctioneer.

Below are the “Best of Show” winners from this year’s festival:

  • The “Best of Show” wreath was called “Winter Wonderland” by Lynn Stark.
  • The “Best of Show” in the 6-foot and up tree division was called “Paw Prints in the Snow” by Team Walmart in memory of Barb Mullins.
  • The “Best of Show” in the 4-foot tree division was called “I want it Plaid Way” by Dr. Bentley and Jenkins Clinic Staff.
  • The “Best of Show” in the 2-foot miniature tree division was called “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” by Ann Hod in memory of Stephanie Moon.
  • The “Best of Show” arrangement or centerpiece was called “Oh, Christmas Trees” by Derek Creamer.

Some other winners from the festival of trees included:

  • “Cuteness Times Three” by Vicki Williams and Cheri Howell, won “Most Traditional” in the 6-foot and up tree division.
  • “Elephant Walk” by Mary Montgomery, won “Most Creative” in the 6-foot and up tree division.
  • “Return to Wonder” by Diana Pierpont and Karen Ochsenbein, won “Most Traditional” in the 4-foot tree division.
  • “A Local Who-Ba-Lation” by Madison Dean, Debbie Shumate, and Savanna Garrison, won “Most Creative” in the 4-foot tree division.
  • “Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Pete Bopp, Caleb Bell and Liz Frisby, won “Most Traditional” in the 2-foot miniature tree division.
  • “Dad’s Christmas wish” by Lula Jones, won “Most Creative” in the 2-foot miniature tree division.

In total, the event raised around $22,000 for the American Cancer Society.
