JEFFERSON TWP. — Firefighters from the Madison-Jefferson Fire Department, along with five other fire departments, recently battled a structure fire in Jefferson Township.
At approximately 2:31 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire located at 753 Hickory Grove Road in Jefferson Township in Jackson County.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke coming from the structure.
Mutual aid for manpower was requested from the Bloomfield Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, Jackson Fire Department, South Webster Fire Department, Hamilton Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, and Vernon Fire Department.
Also responding to the scene was a unit from the Jackson County EMS, which was on standby; and the Oak Hill Police Department.
The fire report stated that the structure was owned by Michelle R. Sammet and occupied by Heather Thompson.
The structure suffered heavy interior fire damage and smoke and was deemed a total loss, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
Firefighters cleared the scene around 5:44 p.m. on Sept. 3.
