McARTHUR — When Mary Ann Hale announced her retirement from both her role as assistant superintendent to the Vinton County Local School District and West Elementary principal last year, she promised the local school scene hadn’t seen the last of her.
“The community has spoken,” Hale said. “I will be a listener and do everything I can to service the public. I hope I can bring some of my education background into the district.”
Re-elected to the board was incumbent Jason Radabaugh, who earned 1,054 votes. Radabaugh joined the school board in 2012.
Well, she fulfilled that promise. Hale earned 1,351 votes during the Vinton County Board of Education race Tuesday night.
Incumbent Jeffrey Thacker earned 1,003 votes and will not serve another term.
Thacker served on the school board since 1992.
“It was a pleasure,” Thacker said. “But all good things must come to an end.”
Hale will begin her first term and Radabaugh will begin his next term on the board on Jan. 1, 2020.
