JACKSON — For several years, parts of Jackson’s Manpower Park were often left in a muddy, swamp-like state due to excessive rainwater retention.
A drainage improvement project for the park was recently completed through Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) grant funding.
The project cost approximately $24,892.19 to complete, and funding leftover from the $75,000 ODNR grant will reportedly go toward additional Jackson projects: sidewalks, lighting and electric upgrades.
Earlier this year, city officials held a public meeting to discuss renovations in Manpower Park: among the renovations proposed was the drainage improvement project.
In late April, the city requested a proposal for the drainage project. Proposals were accepted until May 17. The project was awarded to Bridge Unlimited, LLC on May 24, and the project was completed the week of July 29.
The City of Jackson also received a $14,647 NatureWorks grant in October of 2018, which will go toward refurbishing playground equipment.
