JACKSON — Local first responders participated in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Sept. 11 this year.

Last week, on Wednesday, marked 18 years since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Many local first responders gathered at the Jackson Area YMCA or Anytime Fitness of Jackson to participate in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. Traditionally, first responders partake in the challenge of climbing up 110 flights of stairs, which is how many floors were in the Twin Towers.

The first responders dress in full turnout gear and climb to honor the men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty as a result of the Sept. 11 attacks.

This was accomplished at each location in Jackson using a stair-master.
