WILKESVILLE — Earlier this month, the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a firearm discharge at the Family Dollar in Wilkesville, later arresting the suspect.
As the office reports, VCSO deputies and detectives responded to the scene on June 2 after receiving a report. There, they conducted an investigation into the matter.
Through that investigation, the office determined the suspect to be 46-year-old Wilkesville native Shane Bryant.
Per VCSO, Bryant fought with an individual in the parking lot of the store. When he attempted to draw a pistol, bystanders were able to subdue Bryant after he fired a single shot. No one was struck by the bullet.
Bryant was able to leave the scene before Deputies arrived, but was quickly apprehended. Bryant was transported to the Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, and was later transported to the SEORJ. A bond hearing is expected to be held in the near future.
The case was sent to Vinton County Prosecuting Attorney Jim Payne for review.
