Hunters in Vinton and Jackson counties checked 401 deer during Ohio’s recent muzzleloader season, Jan. 4-7.
Hunters in Vinton County checked in 189 deer, which is down from 210 checked during the muzzleloader season in 2019. Hunters in Jackson County checked in 212, down from 239 checked in 2019. These figures were provided by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
The 189 deer from Vinton County and 212 from Jackson County were among 10,615 deer checked-in statewide.
Top 10 counties for deer harvest during the muzzleloader season include: Coshocton (392), Muskingum (332), Licking (320), Tuscarawas (309), Guernsey (292), Meigs (280), Washington (268), Athens (267), Knox (267) and Carroll (264).
