MEIGS COUNTY — A Jackson man died in a one-vehicle car crash in Meigs County Friday morning, the Gallipolis Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.
James J. Howling, 49, was driving a 2001 Kenworth T800 southeast on Route 248 around 8 a.m. on Sept. 6 when the vehicle went left of center, overturned and slid off the side of the roadway, the Gallipolis Post reported. His vehicle then struck a tree and caught fire.
The crash occurred near mile 7 post in Meigs County. The roadway was closed as a result of the crash, the Gallipolis Post reported.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
