WELLSTON — The Wellston Fire Department (WFD) was dispatched at 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, to a crash at East 10th Street and New Hampshire Avenue in Wellston.
Firefighters are reporting that the accident resulted in a power pole snapping in half. The outage covers most of the east side of the City of Wellston.
AEP was dispatched to the scene. The AEP crews advised WFD that their crews have “timed out” for the day due to high call volumes relating to the high winds. They reportedly stated they will be back to start the repair process at 8 a.m. Thanksgiving morning.
The AEP outage map shows that 271 people are without power. The estimated restoration time is now 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
WFD advises to make arrangements if you need oxygen or any other needs as the power will be off for a considerable amount of time. Firefighters also reminded to use CAUTION when using alternative heating sources.
