Road win in the Alley

Vinton County’s Morgan Bentley works a pass around the defense of Alexander’s Jadyn Mace earlier this season. Bentley finished with 20 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in the Vikings’ 71-39 victory over Chillicothe in a Division II sectional final on Thursday.

LOGAN — Step one was clinching the TVC title. Now that it’s tournament season, this is where Vinton County is ready for the challenge.

In a rematch for a Division II sectional title, the Vikings made quick work of Chillicothe, ending the Cavaliers’ season with an emphatic 71-39 victory on Thursday.

Morgan Bentley led the Vikings with 20 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and four steals.

Lacie Williams buried five triples and had 15 points alongside four rebounds while Cameron Zinn added 13 points with seven rebounds.

Tegan Bartoe had 12 points, four assists and four steals.

The Vikings advance to play Unioto in a Division II district semifinal at 8:00 on Thursday at Southeastern High School.

The two teams met back on December 23rd at Unioto, with Vinton County coming away with a 52-41 victory over the Shermans.
