ALBANY — Oak Hill managed to hold off a late charge by the Alexander Spartans on Tuesday.
The Oaks hung on for a 5-4 win in Albany against the Spartans.
Oak Hill led 4-0 after plating four runs in the top of the third inning, but saw Alexander answer with three runs in the bottom half of the third.
Oak Hill added a run in the fourth for a 5-3 advantage.
Alexander scored in the bottom of the seventh to cut the deficit to one run, but couldn’t find the tying run.
Alexander falls to 7-12 overall, while Oak Hill improved to 11-8.
Mason Hanning took the loss for Alexander, going 2 2-3 innings. Justin Dille worked 1 2-3 innings, with Connor Truax pitching the final 2 2-3 innings.
Alexander had just four hits, with Jacob Jordan going 2 for 2 with a double.
Landon Hines was the winning pitcher for Oak Hill, as he pitched 6 1-3 innings, striking out four.
Daniel Eggers came on in the bottom of the seventh to get the save. With runners on second and third, he recorded consecutive strikeouts to allow Oak Hill to leave town with the win.
Bailey Clutters led Oak Hill with three hits, while Logan Hines had two hits.
