JACKSON — The Ironladies racked up nine hits and Taylor Evans threw a brilliant one-hit shutout as Jackson defeated Paint Valley at home Wednesday night, 9-0.

Just a lone single by Paint Valley's Chloe Manion kept Evans from recording a no-hitter. Meanwhile, Jackson scored in five of its six innings at bat, scattering nine singles and six walks to earn a comfortable win.

Maddie Baxter led the way with two hits, three runs batted in and a run scored. Leah Alford added two hits, three runs scored and an RBI. Kylee Bako had two hits, a run scored and an RBI.

Mackenzie Humphreys had a hit, RBI and run scored, as did Katelyn Newkirk. Sydney Humphreys and Gabby Webb scored the other two runs.

The Ironladies improved to 1-2 overall. The team next hosts Warren on April 1.
