The Lady Vikings are headed to Unioto for a chance at a sectional title.
Vinton County, a fifth-seed in the South bracket, defeated No. 4 Warren on Wednesday to set up a sectional title clash with the top-ranked Unioto squad. The two teams will place Saturday at 4 p.m.
Vinton County won a back-and-forth sectional semi-final against Warren to get there. The Lady Vikings fell 25-25 in the first game, before winning 25-14 and 30-28 to take the next two. After Warren evened things up with a 25-15 win in game 4, the Lady Vikings won 15-9 in the tie-breaker to secure the match.
Vinton County tallied 58 kills, with four players reaching double-digits: Maylea Huff (14), Lacy Ward (13), Cameron Zinn (13) and Sydney Smith (10). Josie Hembree added five and Lacy Stapleton, the team's lone senior, recorded three.
Ward served up six aces to lead the team, also adding 20 digs on defense. Hembree's 22 digs led the team in that category, with Kerrigan Ward recording 14 and Zinn adding 13. Huff's five blocks led the Lady Vikings.
Vinton County finished the regular season with a 15-7 record and a 8-4 record in the Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division.
