OAK HILL — The Oak Hill baseball and softball teams closed out their regular seasons with losses to Piketon and Wheelersburg, respectively.
The Oaks lost a one-run game to Piketon, 2-1 on Monday, May 6. The Lady Oaks fell 6-0 in a game one day before their postseason opener.
Oak Hill took an early 1-0 lead at Piketon on an RBI single from Logan Hines. But Piketon scored single runs in the third and fourth innings off of starter Bayley Clutters and kept Oak Hill scoreless the rest of the way.
Clutters went four innings for the Oaks, giving up two runs (one earned) and striking out six. Hunter Lahrmer pitched two scoreless innings to close out the game, striking out three.
Logan Hines had two of the Oaks’ seven hits on the day, with Trent Scott, Lahrmer, Justin Doss, Austin Dean and Landon Hines also recording singles.
In the softball game, Wheelersburg held the Lady Oaks to four hits to win 6-0.
Kailey Adkins took the loss, pitching five innings and giving up five runs (four earned). She struck out two and walked none. Timea Burnett pitched the final frame, giving up an unearned run and striking out a batter.
Cate Brisker had two of the team’s four hits, including a triple. Kyla Simmonds and Andrea Lewis also singled.
The Lady Oaks closed out their regular season with a 15-9 record and 9-5 mark in Southern Ohio Conference II play.
The Oaks finished their regular season with an 11-10 record and 7-7 mark in the SOC II.
