WELLSTON — The Golden Rockets wasted no time against Nelsonville-York, winning a league softball game in convincing fashion on Thursday, March 28, 17-2.
Jenna Johnston had a perfect day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two runs batted in and three runs scored.
Molly Smith pitched an efficient five innings to record the win, as Wellston picked up its second Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division victory.
Wellston tallied eight runs in the first inning, three in the second, four more in the third and two more for good measure in the fourth inning. The teams played five innings.
Smith helped her cause at the plate, hitting a pair of doubles and a triple — she drove in three runs and scored three herself.
Mya Bouska added two singles, knocking home three runs and scoring twice. Brailey Rainer had two singles and a run scored, while Kendra Coleman added a single, RBI and a walk.
Kenna Kilgour scored a pair of runs, as did Sadie Henry and Erica Scott. Sydney Spencer's single and two RBIs along with Ashley Compston's walk and run scored rounded out the offense.
