BIDWELL — A week ago, River Valley’s Chase Barber was on the wrong end of an Athens no-hitter.

The Raider pitcher had better luck against Wellston on Friday, April 12, pitching a complete-game shutout against the Golden Rockets.

Try as it might, the Wellston line-up couldn’t figure Barber out in his seven innings pitched. Wellston managed just three hits, all singles, along with a trio of walks.

Brice Randolph started the game and pitched two innings, giving up a pair of earned runs in his opening frame. Timothy Stanley pitched the last five innings and gave up two runs (neither were earned), striking out five.

Hits were recorded by Hunter Cardwell, Jeremiah Frisby and Jace McKenzie. Garrett Patton, Stanley and Rylan Molihan reached on walks.

With the loss, Wellston fell to 9-5 overall and 0-4 in Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division play. The team’s league game against Nelsonville-York on Monday, April 15 was postponed to the following day.
