WELLSTON — The Alexander Spartans were able to gain a measure of revenge against the Wellston Golden Rockets.
Alexander scored a 5-0 victory over Wellston on Wednesday, April 17.
The Rockets had won 7-6 in Albany back on April 1, but Alexander won the rematch in Wellston.
Ben Wolfe led the way on Wednesday for Alexander, pitching a complete-game shutout. He allowed four hits, striking out two and walking two.
The Spartans scored two runs in the first, and three in the fourth to give Wolfe enough run support.
Isaac York started things out with a walk in the first. He scored on Luke Chapman’s RBI double. Cameron Bayha’s RBI single made it 2-0.
Drew Davis added a two-run single in the fourth, with York’s RBI single capping off the scoring for Alexander.
Bayha had two of Alexander’s six hits in the win.
Timothy Stanley took the loss for Wellston, going four innings. He gave up all five runs, with four being earned.
Brock Eggers pitched the final three innings for Wellston, striking out two and walking four.
Cole Broaddus was 2 for 3 to lead Wellston’s offense. Stanley added a single and Zane Ervin a double.
Alexander improves to 5-7 overall, and 5-4 in the TVC-Ohio.
Wellston falls to 10-6 overall, and 4-5 in the TVC-Ohio.
