JACKSON — “Geared Up for Christmas,” a community outreach project coordinated by the Jackson County Gear Grinders, has recently announced the locations of their angel trees, as well as gift drop-off sites for this Christmas season.

Project’s president Steve Simpkins noted the biggest request this year is for warm coats and clothing.

Angel Trees are located at:

  • In Jackson: Ohio Valley Bank, People’s Bank, Gordman’s (formally Peebles), Jackson Area YMCA, Iron City Barbell, Anytime Fitness, Cutting Edge Designs by Katrina, Nana’s House, The Corner Pub, Holzapfel Family Clinic, Midway Quick Mart, Mark Porter Ford, HER Realty and Jackson City Schools
  • In Oak Hill: Milton Bank.
  • In Wellston: Milton Bank, and People’s Bank.

Unwrapped gifts should be dropped off by Dec. 16, with the child’s code attached to each item brought.

Drop boxes are set up at these various locations:

  • In Jackson: Ohio Valley Bank, People’s Bank, Gordman’s (formally Peebles), Jackson Area YMCA, Iron City Barbell, Anytime Fitness, Cutting Edge Designs by Katrina, Nana’s House, The Corner Pub, Holzapfel Family Clinic, Midway Quick Mart, Mark Porter Ford, HER Realty, John Clark Law Office, The Filling Station, Dollar General, Papa John’s Pizza, Pizza Hut and Jackson City Library.
  • In Oak Hill: Milton Bank and Dollar General.
  • In Wellston: Milton Bank, People’s Bank, Dollar General and Sylvester Memorial Wellston Public Library.

Applications are available for parents and guardians at the Jackson City Library and Ohio Valley Bank in Jackson, Sylvester Memorial Wellston Public Library in Wellston and Milton Bank in Oak Hill. All applications and letters must be returned by Dec. 1 to be eligible for assistance. Mail applications and letters to: Geared Up for Christmas, PO Box 8, Jackson, OH 45640.

Those who choose to send in a letter should make sure all required information is included, Simpkins explained.
