JACKSON — Jackson County Republican Party Central Committee Chairman Justin Lovett has scheduled a meeting for March 3, 2020 at 6 p.m. for the purpose of filling a vacancy.
The vacancy resulted when Republican, J. Timothy L. Matchett, submitted his resignation as a member of council (Jackson Ward 4) for the City of Jackson, effective January 30, 2020.
Lovett explained that any qualified person interested in being considered for the vacancy should mail a letter of intent to the following address: Jackson County Republican Party, ATTN: Chairman Justin Lovett, P.O. Box 271, Jackson, Ohio 45640. Any material received by Feb. 29, 2020, will be copied to all committee persons who are voting on the vacancy.
The members of the Central Committee who can vote on filling the vacancy are limited to the members who reside within the City of Jackson and are as follows: Brett Foster, Deborah “Debbie” Biggs, John Peters, and Cheri Williams Howe.
Any qualified person seeking the vacancy should also attend this meeting and will have an opportunity to address the committee. The meeting will take place in the Jackson County Juvenile Courtroom located at 350 Portsmouth St. in Jackson.
Interested persons are also encouraged to contact the Jackson County Board of Elections to verify they are an elector of Jackson Ward 4.
Lovett encouraged any Republican interested in the appointment to come forward to seek the vacancy
