WELLSTON — Wellston Mayor Charlie Hudson closed the lobby of the Wellston City Building to the public in March.
Hudson has since made the decision to reopen the city building lobby to the public. The lobby reopened on Monday, May 11.
“We are slowly reopening our way of life,” stated Hudson. “We will limit the number of people allowed in the building.”
Hudson added, “We still ask, if you can, to please pay utility bills via mail, online or drop box. Our city workers have been issued masks and we strongly encourage visitors to do the same.”
Hudson went on to say that reopening the city doesn’t mean there is an end to this, and he feels there could be an increase in cases in Jackson County.
“The only way to truly stop the spread is for everyone the quarantine, to close everything,” stated Hudson. “However, that is impossible... the more we open the more it will spread.”
Hudson explained, “At the same time, there comes a point where we have to begin to regain some normalcy, while doing all we can to reduce the spread. Masks, hand washing, sanitizer and stay home if sick still is in effect, until we have a vaccine these are the tools we have. Just because you may not get sick or will survive doesn’t mean the person spread it to will. Stay safe, use common sense and we get through this.”
